The Sadie McCann Fund

Web Design, WordPress, 2026 Pro bono

Pro bono website for a nonprofit that gives grants to families caring for a child with Aicardi syndrome, rebuilt from Wix through Think Marketing. I built a custom block theme and plugin so staff can add grant recipients, update count-up impact numbers, and switch the annual event on or off without touching the layout.

Ironhand Wine Bar

Web Design, WordPress, 2026

Website for a South Bend, Indiana wine bar and vineyard, covering its menu, events, wine club, private events, and gift cards. I designed and built it on Themify with Modern Events Calendar for recurring events, and handled the domain move from ironhandvineyard.com with path-preserving 301 redirects.

Bistro 933

Web Design, WordPress, 2026

Restaurant website for Bistro 933, inside the Hilton Garden Inn in South Bend, Indiana, with on-page menus, catering, private dining, and reservation info. I built it on Themify with its own palette and type, then fixed a stylesheet collision and mobile column stacking across the site. I also researched online ordering vendors compatible with the hotel's Oracle Simphony POS.

Custom WordPress builds: Themes written from scratch or built on the stack you already have, with ACF content models your team can edit without calling me. Masterbilt Automation Solutions and Agency C5 are both custom builds.
WooCommerce: Store builds, subscriptions, payment gateways, and the tax and shipping rules that tend to break at checkout. Fox Products runs WooCommerce with Avalara AvaTax and tax-exempt wholesale customers.
Speed and Core Web Vitals: Caching, script cleanup, image handling, and server tuning on Cloudways and Cloudflare. 2F Cigars scores 98 on mobile PageSpeed. EFX Pouch went from 63 to 85.
Malware cleanup and hardening: Removing web shells and backdoors, finding the hole that let them in, and locking the site down so it stays clean. Including the messy cases where an infection has spread across a whole server.
Migrations: Squarespace, Wix, and older platforms moved to WordPress with content, redirects, and search rankings intact. DNS and email get cut over properly, including SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
Page builder sites: Elementor, Divi, and block editor builds for clients who want to edit their own pages. Fairview Town Crier is an Elementor site I still maintain.
Technical SEO: Site audits, on-page fixes, structured data, and local landing pages. If the problem is your content rather than your code, I'll say so.

About me

I've been building WordPress sites for more than ten years, first for local businesses and then as the developer agencies call when they need the code side handled.

Today my time is split between direct clients, mostly small businesses and nonprofits, and agency projects where I'm the developer their clients never meet. I use whatever fits the job: a custom theme, a page builder the client can manage, or a careful fix to the setup they already have. I don't rebuild things that only need repair.

The part clients mention most is the handoff. I document what I build, explain it in plain language, and stay reachable after launch, because things do break and someone has to pick up when they do.
